Pour établir ce palmarès, Quacquarelli Symonds s’est appuyé sur 6 indicateurs, qui ont une importance plus ou moins importante dans la note finale.
En premier vient la réputation académique de l’établissement (40%), puis le nombre de fois que l’université est citée dans des publications scientifiques (20%), le ratio entre le nombre d’étudiants et le nombre d’enseignants (20%), la réputation auprès des employeurs (10%), le nombre d’étudiants internationaux (5%) ainsi que le nombre de professeurs étrangers (5%). Le tout donne au final une note sur 100.
